Immense Arsenal, Immense Fabregas

January 21, 2010

Arsenal played Bolton in two back-2-back games in which Arsenal and Fabregas were immense.

In the first fixture, played Sunday 17 January, Arsenal were able to cope with Bolton’s  physical game and produced a superb first-half and a stunning first goal that was finished by a sublime Fabregas.

The Arsenal eventually came off 0-2 winners against a Bolton team, whose second-half performance belied their lowly position in the league.

In the second fixture, played Wednesday 20 January, The Arsenal were somehow 2-0 down after the first 28 minutes!  But this is not the Arsenal of recent years.  They pressed and probed, and asked questions of a determined Bolton side, whose game again showed that they were in a false table position.

Finally, with 2 minutes before half-time, Rosicky unleashed a powerful drive that beat the Bolton keeper, Jaaskelainen, at his near post making it 1-2.  And Fabregas, producing another excellent performance almost made it parity before the half-time whistle.

But shortly after the restart, captain Fabregas produced a superb finish to a determined run to beat Jaaskelainen again at his near post.

And the onslaught continued, as Arsenal scored 2 more unanswered goals to come back from a 2 goal deficit to win 4-2 and go top of the Barclays Premiere League on goals scored.

Arsenal sucked it up and found a way to win. This was a character win. Winners dig deep when it goes against them and fight to be about a victory. This is a huge win. This might be the turning point of the season for the Gunners. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/
